Black Lives Matter

On May 25th, 2020, an African-American man named George Floyd was murdered by a police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The officer knelt on Floyd's neck and back for 9 minutes and 29 seconds, while Floyd cried out “I Can’t Breathe”.

His death along with Breonna Taylor, Andrew Hill, Dante Wright, and Elijah McClain would fuel widespread peaceful demonstrations around the world. At demonstrations where words & cardboard signs were deemed not enough, the evolution into riots would sometimes prove fatal.

The term “Say Their Names” was coined to bring attention to victims of systemic racism and racial injustice in the United States.
