New York’s Battle Against COVID-19

“The city that never sleeps”, New York, in the midst of these measures appeared as a daunting ghost town. From Times Square to Central Park, iconic landmarks stood silent, void of both residents and tourists. Public heath and Medical Care systems struggled to cope with the overwhelming surge of patients. The death toll climbed relentlessly, with mobile refrigerated trailers becoming makeshift morgues and Hart Island accepting the unknowns. To many, it seemed lift would never return to normal. amidst the chaos, New Yorkers exhibited resilience and unity, supporting one another through volunteer efforts and community initiatives. From 7PM celebrations outside of hospitals in 2020 to Rapid Testing kit handouts in 2022, these and other events would display the adaptability of individuals in the healthcare community as they faced the unprecedented crisis head-on.
